Certified natural gas alarm required for NYC Local Law 157 compliance — UL 1484 certified, with a 10-year sealed battery and no wiring.
The law
NYC Local Law 157 requires owners of apartment buildings and rented one- and two-family homes with natural gas service to install natural gas alarms by January 1, 2027. Our gas alarm is UL 1484 certified, as required under the law, and runs on a 10-year sealed battery with no wiring needed. Because it's battery-powered, it can be installed by the owner or building staff without a licensed electrician. A dedicated TEST button makes it easy to confirm it's working, and it monitors for gas around the clock.
More than compliance. Natural gas leaks are rare, but they can be dangerous — and not everyone will notice the smell, especially while asleep. A gas alarm gives early warning so everyone can get out safely.
